CW2 Assignment #2 - Aperture

Architecture

18mm, 1/100 sec at f/20, ISO400

Still Life

1/13 sec at f/5.6, ISO 100

In this image the background is completely blurred and only the subject (the mouse) is in focus. This allows the viewer to really focus on the details of the mouse. The feeling of this image is soft, almost imaginative since we are getting a blurred effect in the background. I think this image works the best since the background is completely blurred and the main focus is the mouse.

                                                         2 sec at f/15, ISO 100

In this image the background is slightly blurred and the mouse is in focus. This gives us some information to the background without completely distracting us from the subject. The reader of this image is slightly different from the previous image. It is less imagined and more straight forward.

                                                          1/30 at f/29, ISO 100

In this image the background and subject are both in focus. This gives us information in the subject as well as the background. The reading of this image is different from the blurred background image because it is as if the viewer is seeing the subject just like they would in real life.

Portraits

                        1/100 sec at f/5.6, ISO 100, 55mm           1/100 sec at f/11, ISO 100

A wide aperture make the background blurry and the subject in focus whereas with a small aperture the whole image is in focus. A low aperture allows the viewer to focus on the subject and not get distracted by the background which I think really works for the portrait.
